XAUUSD Broker Specifications: A Gold EA Compatibility Checklist
XAUUSD broker specifications determine whether a Gold EA can translate its trading rules into valid orders. Two accounts can both display Gold while using different symbol names, volume limits or contract details. Record the account’s actual settings before transferring an EA or preset.
Build a broker compatibility sheet
Open the Gold instrument’s Specification window from Market Watch. Save a dated record for the exact account server and account type. A screenshot from a different broker or a different Gold instrument is not a substitute. The official Market Watch guide explains where instrument information is displayed.
- Symbol: record the full name, including prefixes and suffixes.
- Contract and pricing: note contract size, displayed digits, point size and minimum price increment.
- Volume: check the smallest order, largest order and permitted increment.
- Order restrictions: inspect minimum stop distances, supported order types and execution settings.
- Operating hours: note trading sessions and breaks.
- Costs: obtain commission and overnight financing details for the actual account.
Separate points, ticks and monetary value
A point is a quote-unit measure; tick size describes a permitted price increment. Tick value connects a price change with money for a given volume. These are related but should not be treated as interchangeable. MetaQuotes lists their separate identifiers in the MQL5 symbol properties reference.
For illustration only, if a quote’s point size is 0.01, a 50-point distance equals 0.50 in quoted price. That calculation alone says nothing about the cash loss for an order. Cash exposure also depends on volume, contract rules and currency conversion. Avoid copying a stop or spread threshold merely because the number looks familiar.
Check estimated loss separately from margin
The money required to open a position is not the same as the loss at a stop price. Developers can use OrderCalcProfit to estimate the result between two prices in account currency. That estimate still needs separate allowance for costs and unfavorable execution.
Ask whether the EA sizes trades from fixed lots, account balance or a stop-based calculation. If a calculated volume falls below the broker’s minimum, forcing it up to the minimum can increase exposure beyond the intended budget. The appropriate response may be to skip the trade or reconsider compatibility, rather than override the limit.
Use product requirements as a second check
The Smart Gold Hunter MT5 page describes a single-entry approach with Stop Loss and Take Profit. Those features still depend on valid order distances and volume settings. A product description cannot confirm that every broker configuration is compatible.
Before moving any robot from the MT5 EA category to another account, repeat a demo order and management check under the new specifications. Keep the result with the preset. This checklist tests operational fit, not expected returns; Gold trading remains exposed to market and execution risk.
