How to Install a Gold Trading EA on MT5: XAUUSD Setup
To install a Gold Trading EA on MT5, start with the correct platform files, your broker’s Gold symbol and the instructions supplied with that exact EA version. A robot appearing on a chart is only the first checkpoint: the account, inputs and permissions must also match the intended setup.
Prepare the installation package
Keep a copy of the original download and its setup notes. Separate the compiled EA, any required indicators and preset files before moving anything. An EX5 file is a MetaTrader 5 program; an MT4 EX4 file cannot simply be renamed to make it compatible. If a package includes source code and a compiled program, use the vendor’s documented installation path.
In the desktop terminal, choose File → Open Data Folder. The MQL5/Experts folder holds Expert Advisors, MQL5/Indicators holds custom indicators, and MQL5/Presets stores input presets. Attach the EA to the intended Gold chart
- Sign in to the intended demo account and confirm that quotes are updating.
- Find the broker’s actual Gold instrument in Market Watch. It may use a suffix or another symbol name.

- Refresh the Navigator or restart the terminal if the installed EA is not listed.
- Attach the EA, load the matching preset if supplied, and inspect every risk-related input before accepting it.

What counts as a successful setup?
A useful installation record shows a clean initialization, the intended account and inputs, and understandable behavior when market conditions change. A trade opening immediately is not a requirement: a selective strategy may correctly wait. Do not widen entry rules just to make the installation look active.
