Gold EA VPS Setup for MT5: Migration and Monitoring Checklist
A Gold EA VPS setup helps keep an MT5 environment available when your personal computer is offline. The important decision is not simply where to host the terminal, but how to transfer the correct configuration and verify that only the intended instance is managing the account.
Choose the right hosting model for the EA
A general Windows VPS runs a desktop environment that you administer. MetaTrader’s integrated virtual hosting migrates a trading environment from the local terminal. They have different workflows and restrictions. Check the EA’s licensing, indicator dependencies and external-service requirements before choosing either.
MetaQuotes’ virtual hosting migration guide explains that the current charts, programs and settings are transferred. DLL calls are prohibited on that service, and automated trading is allowed on the virtual platform after migration. Treat migration as an operational action that can enable trading, not merely a file backup.
Prepare a migration manifest
Write down the account server, Gold symbol, timeframe, EA version, preset filename and any external dependencies. Capture the inputs before transfer. For a multi-chart setup, record which chart owns each strategy and which identifier it uses, if configurable. Keep this manifest separate from screenshots of trading results.
The Gold Reaper MT5 product page can be used as a starting point for its version and setup information. Confirm hosting compatibility from the supplied instructions; this checklist does not certify that every EA supports every VPS service.
Prevent duplicate execution
- Test the migration with a demo account first.
- Confirm that the remote environment initialized the intended EA and inputs.
- Check whether any local terminal or second VPS still has the same strategy active.
- Verify which instance is responsible for existing positions before disabling or replacing one.
- Inspect logs after the next expected operating window.
Two active copies can submit duplicate trades or compete over order management. A unique strategy identifier is helpful where supported, but it does not make an accidental second copy harmless. Do not rely on a chart screenshot to prove the local process has stopped.
Monitor more than connectivity
Use a small daily record: remote service status, last log activity, expected charts, current positions and any initialization or trade errors. After changing local inputs, follow the host’s process to update the remote environment and confirm the change there. A local edit is not proof of a remote update.
Keep a recovery note explaining how to inspect open trades if hosting becomes unavailable. Broker-held protective orders and EA-managed trailing logic are different mechanisms; do not assume every management action continues during a terminal outage.
Review requirements across the MT5 EA collection before deployment. A VPS supports continuity, not profitability, and neither lower latency nor uninterrupted runtime guarantees execution prices or protects against Gold market losses.
